Siyun Ahn (she/her)

I’m an international student from Korea. I’ve had a pretty diverse background growing up. I was born in Korea, spent my high school years in the Philippines, and now I’m here in Madison, Wisconsin, for college. The weather change was definitely a shock, but I’ve come to love how peaceful it is here.

I’ve always loved exploring the world through biology. It’s fascinating how so many little things connect to bigger concepts. I’m planning to pursue an MD/PhD after finishing my bachelor’s at UW–Madison. My interest in research goes way back to when I was a kid, watching bees carry honey or seeing plants grow a little more each day. Moments like those made me wonder how the world really works. For me, research is a way to dive deeper into those questions and see the professional side of biology. I see this as the first big step toward becoming a researcher and scientist in the future.

In my free time, I enjoy listening to classical music and watching the animation Bread Barbershop (I know it sounds a bit weird, but yeah you heard it right).
